本迹者，本住中道，障塞二邊，八種障，障涅槃邊，一種障，障生死邊，一種非障生死、非障涅槃，障無餘也。
As for origin and traces: originally he abides in the Middle Way, obstructing both extremes. Eight kinds of obstructions obstruct the side of nirvāṇa; one kind of obstruction obstructs the side of saṃsāra; one kind neither obstructs saṃsāra nor obstructs nirvāṇa, obstructing [only] the remainderless [nirvāṇa].
