「經家」下，從字義釋。三義分二，次通二別。二序之中通復冠別，二序俱首通最得名以冠於下，冠即是首，故云冠首。是則二十七品方名為經，以序從正通名經也，故云妙法蓮華經序品。

From "The compiler of the sūtra" downward: explaining from the meaning of the character. The three meanings are divided into two, next general and two specific. Between the two prefaces, the general again crowns the specific. Both prefaces are at the head, but the general most properly obtains the name so as to crown what follows; crowning is being the head, hence it is called crowning the head. Consequently, only the twenty-seven chapters are named sūtra; by subsuming the preface under the main body, it is universally named sūtra, and therefore it is called "The Introductory Chapter of the Scripture of the Lotus Blossom of the Fine Dharma."
