Regarding "the meaning of śrāvaka is vast," it values the person and is not a dispute. However, those who employ the teachings say they are "Mahāyāna śrāvakas," which is not yet a comprehensive understanding; now, saying "transformation and response" speaks from the origin, whereas viewed from the assembly, they are entirely within the Hīnayāna. As for "vast," in the eight gates of the Tripiṭaka and Shared [teachings], every gate has four types, and every gate has the buddha-path and transformation and response; their traces in the former teachings are again identical to the previous number; based on the origin, they should again correspond to the grounds and abodes, the abodes, practices, transferences, and grounds; and those confounded with the overproud are again identical to the previous number. Others have no explanations based on the teachings, present and past, origin and traces, provisional and real, or opening and uniting; they merely speak of abiding in the fruit, skillful means, and so forth. Therefore, it is valued to speak of those who realize Nirvāṇa. As for "and so forth" (yunyun), it is fully detailed as distinguished above.
