As for the phrase "possessing them concurrently": this verifies that the four omens are within the samādhi, and the samādhi cannot be lacking; lacking this, it is extremely brief. "Brief" means extremely brief. At first glance, the brief past seems to be briefer than the deliberation, but in meaning it is not so; since in the brief past there are words of past Buddhas, it is called brief only in relation to the extensive, not in relation to the deliberation. Therefore, the deliberation merely deliberates on past and present without words of having seen in the past; hence it is even briefer. Thus this word "brief" has two meanings: first, brevity of words, because there is no "having seen in the past"; second, lacking and brief, because it lacks the entry into samādhi.
