4.73

《論》云：「如人不能離地四指於須臾間為能飛空高下自在。」前寄雨一事者，明餘道不能。如善住龍王以比智力，知帝釋欲與修羅戰，脊骨便鳴。若帝釋欲入園時，脊上自然有香象現；此畜生道中不思議攝，如鬼能變食等。又云：「諸土各有自爾力」，如《釋籤》。

The Treatise says: "Just as a person who cannot leave the ground by four inches could not in an instant fly freely high and low through the air." The previous figurative mention of rain was to clarify that the other destinies cannot [produce it]. For example, the Nāga King Shànzhù, through inferential knowledge, knows when Śakra wishes to battle the asuras, and his backbone then sounds. When Śakra wishes to enter the garden, a fragrant elephant spontaneously manifests on his back; this is included within the inconceivable within the animal destiny, just as pretas can transform food and so forth. It also says: "Each realm has its own intrinsic power," as explained in the Commentary (Xīqiān).
