When the answer says, 'This is according to the four teachings,' it refers to those who hear the great and the small within the vaipulya and prajñā [teachings]. Since they could not gain entry there and had to wait until the two curds, relative to the earlier they are dull, but they are called dull merely because they had to wait for the time. Although dull relative to the earlier, upon gaining entry here their sharpness and dullness are naturally distinguished. Among the four gates, because the latter gates are superior to the former gates, the fourth gate among the four gates is moved to the front because, to match the four faculties, the superior one is placed first. One should know that the great and the small here are no different from the great and the small in the previous two sets of four propositions. In the first four propositions, the middle two propositions specifically pertained to the Pure Land; now all pertain to this land.
