5.82

此乃從開說之，非語本善，故知定性及現未發，縱有宿善如恒河沙，終無自成菩提之理，故云非其能得。若未開頃則往已成非，今若被開則宿作成已，故知善體本妙隨執者心，是故開心宿善咸遂。

This is spoken from the perspective of opening, not speaking of the original good. Therefore, one knows that for those of determinate nature and those in the present who have not generated [the mind], even if they have past goods like the sands of the Ganges, there is ultimately no principle by which they naturally become bodhi; hence it says it is not what they can attain. In the time before being opened, what was past had already become invalid; now if they are opened, what was created in the past has already become accomplished. Therefore, one knows that the essence of good is fundamentally wondrous, following the minds of those who cling; for this reason, when the mind is opened, all past goods are fulfilled.
