Regarding 'Up to this point is the comprehension of the Dharma and the parable' down to 'the text concludes': this is found in both places of putting aside the great and bestowing the small. The preceding section of the text is finished. From this text onward, the Dharma explanation only has opening the provisional, and the parable explanation only has equal bestowal, both lacking the middle two flavors. If one discusses anticipatory comprehension, although there is no explicit text in the two places of Dharma and parable, it merely points to the eye capable of seeing in the Dharma and parable, which is the dharmakāya. Therefore, comprehension aligned with the teaching only comprehends the beginning of the gradual; because what is received is the small, it is called 'comprehension aligned with the teaching.' Because there is additionally an anticipatory comprehension, it says 'moreover, with.' Within this, it first provides a general account of the intention of its occurrence; next, it lists the sections of the text, opening into four parts. Regarding 'testing appropriateness' and so forth, the meaning is: the Buddha, in the dharmakāya, knew in advance that I have four intentions, great and small, so it says 'testing appropriateness' and so forth. Next, it explains the word 'moreover'—first explaining the character, then explaining the meaning. Next, it explains 'another day,' explaining the two characters 'another day.' Within this, it first explains the two characters separately; next, under 'comprehension aligned with the teaching,' it judges the two characters together in terms of comprehension aligned with the teaching and anticipatory comprehension. In the initial separate explanation, the meaning is general, because it has not yet distinguished comprehension aligned with the teaching and anticipatory comprehension. In the subsequent combined judgment, the meaning is differentiated, because it distinguishes three kinds, such as self and other, as teaching and anticipation.
