次「問」下料簡。初問者，準初釋品應云五種，準後減數應云一法，何故但以衣座室三而對諸法？答者，準事顯理須具三法，況依當文應具三法，乃為眾說，故具事理二三方可說法，故先事解，次事理合，三單約理。事解如文。

Next, below 'Question', is the appraisal. The first question: according to the initial explanation of the chapter, it should speak of five kinds, and according to the subsequent reduction of numbers, it should speak of one dharma; why does it only pair the three of robe, seat, and room against the various dharmas? The answer: according to revealing principle through phenomena, one must be endowed with three dharmas, not to mention that according to the present text, one should be endowed with three dharmas before speaking to the assembly; thus, only when equipped with both the phenomenal and the noumenal threes can one speak the Dharma. Therefore, first is the phenomenal explanation, next phenomenal and noumenal are combined, and third is purely in terms of principle. The phenomenal explanation is as in the text.
