言「十意」者，雖佛慧不殊，化緣生熟，顯晦仍別，是故略須述其異同，不可事異令佛慧殊，豈佛慧同令教一概？二酥時異佛慧必同，況復猶是一佛所化，應須了知異本非異。於中先列、次釋。列中第三語互，準下釋中此應題云「橫豎廣略」，至下釋中二處各別。

Regarding the "ten points": although the buddha-wisdom is not different, the conditions of conversion are raw or ripe, and their manifestation and concealment are still distinct. Therefore, one must briefly state their similarities and differences. One must not let differences in circumstances make the buddha-wisdom distinct, and how could the identity of buddha-wisdom make the teachings uniform? Though the times of the two clarified butters differ, the buddha-wisdom must be identical, let alone that they are conversions by the very same buddha; one must realize that the difference is fundamentally not different. Within this, they are first listed, and next explained. In the list, the phrasing of the third is inverted; based on the explanation below, this should be titled "horizontal and vertical, broad and brief"; when it comes to the explanation below, the two places are distinct.
