答：顯示法者，方便教也，明三乘人各自行因皆得成果，此事易解。如外三種子各生三牙，其相易明，故名顯示。祕密法謂甚深法，明無三乘唯有一乘，故名祕密。

Answer: The 'revealed teaching' is the expedient teaching. It explains that the people of the three vehicles each practice their own causes and all attain the fruition [appropriate to them]; this matter is easy to understand. Just as three external seeds each sprout into three [distinct] shoots whose characteristics are easy to understand, it is therefore called 'revealed'. The 'secret teaching' refers to the extremely profound teaching, which explains that there are no three vehicles, but only the one vehicle; hence it is called 'secret'.
