次論觀音名。觀音可具二義：一者智境合題、二者應感雙舉。觀謂能觀之智，世音即所觀之境，故名境智也。觀即是觀察赴應，世音即是眾生機感，故名應感也。

Next is to discuss the name of Guanyin. Guanyin can possess two meanings: first, the combination of wisdom and object in the title; second, the joint citation of response and resonance. "Guan" (contemplation) refers to the wisdom capable of contemplating; "shiyin" (world's sounds) refers to the object contemplated; hence it is called object and wisdom. "Guan" is observing and approaching to respond; "shiyin" is the sentient beings' spiritual capacity and resonance; hence it is called response and resonance.
