9.84

答：有人言是金剛心耳，猶未成佛但任持三昧故延之使長，為廣度物也。故下文云「神通力如是，於阿僧祇劫。」評曰：經言「久已成佛」，而言未成佛，公於我前違反我語。如來三誡，恐時會驚疑，豈徒然哉？又昔尚明已登大覺，今言猶未成聖，則昔勝今劣，豈可然？

Answer: Some say: "It is only the vajramind; he has not yet attained Buddhahood, but simply by upholding samādhi extends it to make it long in order to deliver beings extensively. Therefore the text below says: 'Such is the power of supernatural penetration throughout asaṃkhyeya kalpas.'" We assess this: The sūtra says "attained Buddhahood long ago," yet you say he has not attained Buddhahood; this openly contradicts our words right before me. The Tathāgata gave three admonitions, fearing the assembly at that time would be startled and doubtful; how could that have been in vain? Furthermore, formerly it was already explained that he had ascended to great awakening; if you now say he has not yet attained sagehood, then the former would be superior and the present inferior—how could this be acceptable?
