Sixth: If one says that formerly all three vehicles were clarified as skillful means, then from the Pañcaviṃśati-sāhasrikā onwards down to before the Lotus Sūtra, the Buddha vehicle clarified would all be skillful means. If the Buddha vehicle were a skillful means, then causes such as the six perfections would also be skillful means. If that were so, the storehouses of jewels and precious treasures bestowed upon the impoverished son would all be provisional teachings and ought not to be real. If the treasures bestowed are indeed night-illuminating pearls and not fish eyes, then the Buddha vehicle clarified in the Pañcaviṃśati is already real and cannot be called a skillful means.
