涅槃據其迹，明是罪人，故但得信心；若言得柔順忍者，眾便謂實犯罪人則不滅，他經據本故得順忍。又淺深隨緣也。

The Nirvāṇa Sūtra is based on his traces, explaining that he was a sinful person, and therefore he only attained the mind of faith; if it said he attained compliant tolerance, the assembly would think that a person who truly committed sins would not have them eradicated; other sūtras are based on his original ground, hence he attained compliant tolerance. Moreover, depth or shallowness follows conditions.
