From 'This good son' downward is the second part, separately setting forth the purification of the six faculties. In each one, there are prose and verses. As for the 'eyes produced by father and mother', the Fahua lun says, 'An ordinary person, by the power of the sūtra, attains superior faculty functions before having entered the first bhūmi.' If one enters the first bhūmi, one abandons the body of fragmented lifetimes of the three realms and no longer uses the eyes produced by father and mother. Nāgārjuna's distinction of the two forbearances is also like this: in the forbearance of compliant conformity it is called the fleshly body, while the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas is the dharmakāya, also called the body born of dharma-nature. The fleshly eye spoken of in the present sūtra is the forbearance of compliant conformity.
