There are three meanings in all. First, previously it briefly praised the two wisdoms, whereas now it broadly praises the multitude of virtues; the beginning is brief and the end is broad in order to explicate the meaning. The two wisdoms are the masters of the ekayāna, and therefore at first it briefly praised the two wisdoms; the fruit vehicle lacks no virtue, and therefore afterward it broadly praises the multitude of virtues. Second, praising all Buddhas explains giving rise to the provisional from the real; praising Śākyamuni penetrates the real by means of the provisional. Third, praising all Buddhas adduces causes to explain the fruit; praising Śākyamuni adduces fruits to explain the fruit.
