「無漏諸羅漢」下，第二、次辨生疑。又開兩別：初、頌眾疑；次、頌自疑。頌眾疑內又開三別：初一行，頌聲聞眾疑；次半行，頌緣覺眾疑；「諸天龍鬼神」下，頌凡夫眾疑。此三眾則為次第，聲聞眾中有羅漢人，故前頌之；緣覺但有出家因人，是故第二；天龍既劣前二眾，故後列之。「於諸聲聞眾」下，第二、頌自疑，若望昔教則是究竟法，望今則是所行道。

From "The arhats without outflows" onward is the second: next discerning the arising of doubt. This also divides into two distinct parts: first, versifying the assembly's doubt; next, versifying his own doubt. Within versifying the assembly's doubt, it again divides into three distinct parts: the first line versifies the śrāvaka assembly's doubt; the next half-line versifies the pratyekabuddha assembly's doubt; from "The devas, nāgas, ghosts, and spirits" onward versifies the ordinary beings' assembly's doubt. These three assemblies are in sequential order: in the śrāvaka assembly there are arhats, so it is versified first; the pratyekabuddhas only have those with the causes of having left home, therefore they are second; since devas and nāgas are inferior to the former two assemblies, they are listed last. From "Among the assembly of śrāvakas" onward is the second: versifying his own doubt; looking toward the past teaching, it was the ultimate Dharma, but looking toward the present, it is the path practiced.
