From "Again, I made this reflection: 'I have appeared in a defiled and evil world'" onward is the third part: preaching the three because of according with the sentient beings of the five defilements. As for "I then contemplated to myself": from beginning to end across the two passages of the sūtra, there are four contemplations. Not preaching the ekayāna has two contemplations, as explained before; preaching the triyāna also has two contemplations. The reason there are two contemplations is that, according with worldly ways, one decides only after reconsidering. Furthermore, the initial contemplation conformed to the practices of ancient Buddhas, and the subsequent contemplation conformed to present Buddhas. Again, the initial contemplation conformed above to the Buddhas, and the subsequent contemplation accorded below with capacities and natures. Moreover, regarding the words "defiled and evil world": although there was the encouragement of the Buddhas of the ten directions, if he had appeared in a good world he would not have preached the three; now, reflecting that he, Śākyamuni, had appeared in an evil world, it was appropriate to accept the encouragement and preach the three.
