Conditioned dharmas have three aggregates altogether: first, physical form; second, mind; third, neither form nor mind. "The walls and partitions were crumbling and falling" refers to the impermanence of physical form dharmas; "the beams and ridgepoles were tilting and perilous" refers to the impermanence of mental dharmas; "the bases of the pillars were rotten and ruined" refers to the impermanence of dharmas that are neither form nor mind. Since physical form dharmas are coarse, the mark of their impermanence is evident, so it is spoken first; mental dharmas are subtle, and the mark of their impermanence is subtle, so it is spoken later; the life-faculty, being neither form nor mind, can link and sustain form and mind, so it is spoken in between.
