「我從昔來」下，第三、結歡喜也。將結喜故重牒昔憂也。「我從昔來終日竟夜」并牒上二處文也。牒前在會、騰後獨思，明無時不爾，故云我從昔來也。於日則終、於夜又竟，每自剋責，豈有悅時也。「而今從佛聞所未聞」者，此正明今喜也。

From 'Since the past' downward is the third part: concluding with rejoicing. Being about to conclude with joy, he reiterates past grief. 'Since the past, day and night' reiterates the text from the two preceding places together. It reiterates being in the assembly earlier and brings up reflecting alone later, clarifying that at no time was it not so; hence it says 'since the past.' During the day it was throughout, and during the night it was complete; constantly rebuking himself, how could there be a time of joy? 'And now, hearing from the Buddha what has never been heard before' directly clarifies his present joy.
