From "At that time the sons" downward, the third part versifies rejoicing upon obtaining the carriages. In "roaming in the four directions", if one explains the four directions based on transforming others: having attained the understanding of equality, they then cultivate the great practice to transform universally the four kinds of born beings, which is like roaming in the four directions; giving free expression to their aspiration to seek Buddhahood far away is like playing and making merry; the Mahāyāna is not confined by one-sided smallness, which is like being self-mastering and unimpeded. If one clarifies the four directions based on one's own practice: when those of the two vehicles attain awakening and understanding, they enter the mind of the ten abodes—the mind of the ten abodes is the eastern direction; next, advancing to the ten practices is the southern direction; from the ten practices to the ten dedications of merit is the western direction; from the ten dedications of merit to the ten stages is the northern direction; from the ten stages to the stage of wondrous enlightenment is proceeding straight to the place of enlightenment.
