夫罪福從於理生，順理則萬惡永消，違理則眾苦並集。佛說《法華》示人罪福耳，非說《法華》令物起罪也。

Sin and merit arise from the principle. When one accords with the principle, myriad evils are forever extinguished; when one contradicts the principle, manifold sufferings converge all at once. The Buddha preached the Lotus Sūtra simply to show people sin and merit; he did not preach the Lotus Sūtra to cause living beings to produce sin.
