From "World-Honoured One! Even if that elder" onward is the second part, explaining that the present is not false. This also has two stages: first an explanation, next an illustration. The first explanation has three parts: first, stating that it is not false; second, from "Why is this?" onward, explaining why it is not false; third, from "For this reason" onward, concluding that it is not false. The general meaning explains: although the elder spoke of promising three to cause them to escape the house, his intention was not to give three, but to realize the elder's original intention; this is real, and hence there is no falsehood. From "How much more so when the elder" onward is the second part, adducing an illustration. Previously it explained that his original intention was not to give the small, and even if he did not give even the smallest it would already not be false; how much more so when his original intention was to give the great, and now he has given it—how could it be false? From "The Buddha told Śāriputra" onward is the third part, praising. One "Excellent!" praises his understanding that the past three was not false; one "Excellent!" praises his understanding that the present one is not false.
