From "I rain down the rain of Dharma" below, fourth, in eleven and a half verses, is the application of the parable of growth. In terms of the text, there are also three parts: first, eight and a half verses apply the parable of growth; next, one and a half verses explain that the principle is one while, depending on the person, the benefits obtained differ; third, one and a half verses praise the Buddhas. Previously, receiving moisture had three sections, and growth also has three; dividing the sūtra text in this manner fits the text extremely well. The older explanations differ from this and ought to be revised. In terms of the initial eight and a half verses, they are further divided into two: first, three and a half verses generally apply growth; next, five verses specifically apply growth. In terms of the first part, there are also three: first, one verse is the Dharma explanation; next, one verse presents the parable; after that, one and a half verses apply the parable. From "śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas" below, second, five verses are the specific application. In terms of the text, there are also three parts: first, one and a half verses apply the growth of medium herbs; next, one and a half verses apply the growth of small trees; after that, two verses apply the growth of great trees. Thus the general application has three parts, and the specific application also has three.
