From "The Buddha using this parable" onward, one and a half lines, is the third [division]: praising the Buddha's wisdom. As for "like a drop in the ocean": in the "Belief and Understanding Chapter" above, the ten parables and ten kindnesses praised the Buddha's virtues, and the assembly at that time thought that the Tathāgata's virtues were fully encompassed under the words of the four great śrāvakas. Therefore, at the beginning of this chapter, eight dharmas and eight parables were explained to reveal that the Tathāgata also has immeasurable virtues, and the assembly at that time then thought the praise of the Buddha's virtues was exhausted. For this reason, it now explains that although this parable has been set forth, in comparison to the Buddha's wisdom it is like a drop in the ocean.
