"There was a seven-jeweled stūpa" is the third, listing the name of the stūpa. As for why the emerging and manifestation of the stūpa is explained, there are altogether three meanings: First, according to the Fahua lun, which says: "The reason the stūpa is explained is to manifest the abiding and preservation of the Tathāgata's relics." Second, Prabhūtaratna's vow was to verify that what was spoken is not false. Third, those of the Hīnayāna hold that the Buddha is ultimately impermanent, and therefore they erect stūpas. Now the stūpa emerges and manifests, yet the Buddha is consequently not extinct; then one knows that arising and ceasing are expedient means, while non-arising and non-ceasing are the real. For these causes and conditions the manifestation of the stūpa is explained; other sūtras merely distinguish the verification that what was spoken is not false, and do not intend to open the body's expedient and the body's real, so they do not take a stūpa as verification.
