答：或可出經人語其全數，或可本有千二百五十，至法華時五十已亡，故但言千二百耳。
Answer: It may be that the compiler of the sūtra spoke in round numbers; or it may be that originally there were twelve hundred and fifty, but by the time of the Lotus [assembly], fifty had already passed away, so it speaks only of twelve hundred.
