《智度論》釋三百比丘脫衣上佛云「有人言，十二年未制戒」，即知《波若》在十二年已前說之。《法華》，成道已來四十餘年方乃演說。又〈信解品〉云「明付財竟後方會父子」，亦是《波若》在前《法華》居後。而向所引畢定品文，即《法花》在前《波若》居後。

When the Dàzhìdù lùn explains the three hundred monks taking off their robes and offering them to the Buddha, it says: "Some say that for twelve years the precepts had not yet been laid down." From this we know that prajñā was spoken before the twelfth year. As for the Lotus Sūtra, it was expounded only after more than forty years had passed since the attainment of the way. Furthermore, the "Faith and Understanding Chapter" says that it was only after the wealth had been fully entrusted that father and son met, which also shows that prajñā came before and the Lotus Sūtra came after. Yet the text from the chapter on definitive fixation cited just above shows that the Lotus Sūtra came before and prajñā came after.
