或明同法而前後為異者，如五時同是《波若》之法，而《仁王經》云「二十九年說四種波若，第三十年說仁王波若」。如是等事不可具陳，略舉八條示聖教無方，不應限局五時及四宗之義也。

As for clarifying the same teaching with differences between earlier and later: for example, the five periods are all the Dharma of prajñā, yet the Benevolent Kings Sūtra says: "For twenty-nine years four kinds of prajñā were spoken; in the thirtieth year the Benevolent Kings Prajñā was spoken." Matters such as these cannot be recounted in full; these eight points are raised in brief to demonstrate that the sacred teachings have no fixed pattern, and should not be restricted to the five periods or the four tenets.
