10.419

贊曰：第六父陳欲往，第七報母請出。報母請出有二：初報父信心，後請出家。出家寬曠，喻虛空也。如契經說「孔雀雖有色嚴身，不如鴻鶴能遠飛，白衣雖有富貴力，不如出家功德勝。」《十輪經》說「瞻博迦華雖萎悴，猶勝諸華鮮潔時，破戒惡行諸苾芻，猶勝精進諸外道。」由此二子請母出家。

The Commentary says: Sixth, the father states his wish to go; seventh, they inform their mother and request to leave home. Informing the mother and requesting to leave home has two [parts]: first, informing her of their father's faithful mind; second, requesting to leave home. Leaving home is vast and unconfined, compared to empty space. As a sūtra says: 'Although a peacock has lovely colors adorning its body, it is not equal to a wild goose or crane that can fly far; although a householder in white robes has the power of wealth and noble status, it is not equal to the superior merit of leaving home.' The Daśacakra-sūtra says: 'Although a campaka flower is withered and faded, it still surpasses other flowers when fresh and spotless; an immoral bhikṣu of evil conduct still surpasses all zealous non-Buddhists.' For this reason, the two sons requested their mother to let them leave home.
