論議有二相：一佛自說，二弟子說。《瑜伽論》云：「謂諸經典循環研覈摩呾理迦，一切了義經皆名摩呾理迦，謂於是處世尊自廣分別法相。又聖弟子已見諦跡，依自所證無倒分別諸法體性，此亦名為摩呾理迦，亦名阿毘達磨。」今此且引攝義周文，其餘偏教恐繁不引。

Exposition (upadeśa) has two aspects: first, what is spoken by the Buddha himself; second, what is spoken by disciples. The Yogācārabhūmi says: 'It refers to cyclic investigation and analysis of the mātṛkā in the sūtras. All definitive sūtras are called mātṛkās, meaning those places where the Bhagavat himself extensively distinguishes the characteristics of phenomena. Furthermore, when holy disciples who have already seen the footprints of truth, relying on their own realization, infallibly distinguish the intrinsic natures of all phenomena, this is also called a mātṛkā, and is also called Abhidharma.' Here, we merely cite text that comprehends the meaning fully; other one-sided teachings are not cited for fear of prolixity.
