Eulogy: Below is his wealth and property being exceedingly vast. There are eight items. Here there are two: First, the seven jewels symbolize the abundance of the seven noble treasures. Second, conditioned granaries and unconditioned storehouses, where all virtues are filled to overflowing. The Bowuzhi states: 'Pine resin entering the earth for a thousand years turns into fuling; fuling after a thousand years turns into amber (hupo), also called red pearls.' The Guangzhi states: 'Where this substance is produced, no grass or trees grow above or beside it. The deep ones are eight or nine feet down and as large as a bushel. Scraping off the outer crust, amber forms inside, containing sap. Initially like peach gum, when it congeals and hardens, it forms vessels. People of the Western Regions use it to make bowls.'
