來意有二：一者下根之徒，略有二類：名高之輩前品與記，名非高輩此品與記，故此品來。二者佛與記中，上與同記、此與後記，故此品來。

The purpose of its appearance has two points: First, among those of lesser capacities, there are roughly two types: those of high renown received prophecies in the previous chapter, while those not of high renown receive prophecies in this chapter; hence this chapter appears. Second, among the Buddha's bestowals of prophecy, the previous was conferring prophecy together, whereas this confers prophecy subsequent to that; hence this chapter appears.
