Yet because we did not understand the dharmas spoken by the Buddha according to suitability as expedient means, upon first hearing them we immediately believed and received and practiced them, contemplating and realizing them; therefore the Buddha did not deliver and liberate us by means of the Mahāyāna, and thus this was our own fault.
