The Eulogy says: Fourth, showing that sentient beings obtained benefit. There are two parts: first, explaining the obtaining of benefit; later, explaining their great multitude. In the first part there are again two: first, explaining the first assembly; later, explaining the events of the second, third, and fourth assemblies. This is the first. 'Attachment' (upādāna) means clinging; by not craving or clinging to any phenomena, they obtained liberation of mind. 'Liberation of mind' means that through liberation from defilements such as ignorance, they formed a mind associated with liberation through wisdom; no longer arousing defilements in dependence on objects is called liberation of mind. Alternatively, dhyāna is called mind; because it can stabilize the mind, obtaining both liberations is called liberation of mind.
