Commentary: Below are eight verses summarizing the third: only expounding for the bodhisattvas and not expounding directly for us, hence we did not aspire. Within this there are six parts: first, one verse on the Buddha's instruction; next, one and a half verses on our complying with the Buddha's teaching; next, one verse on others complying with our words; next, one verse on the Buddha conferring prophecies upon others; next, one and a half verses on expounding directly for the bodhisattvas and not for us; finally, two verses jointly concluding the doctrine and the parable. This is the first. Empowered by the Buddha's three karmas, we were secretly commanded to expound sūtras such as the Prajñā[pāramitā].
