吉藏法師略陳十義：一說菩薩道，二受梵王請，三顯三世佛權實二智，四說三淨，五說三攝法門，六說三種法門，七為斷疑，八說中道，九增念佛三昧，十為三世眾生如實分別罪福二門。今略敘彼一為說菩薩道故說此經。

Dharma Master Jizang briefly set forth ten meanings: first, to teach the bodhisattva path; second, to accept the Brahmā King's request; third, to reveal the two wisdoms of the provisional and real of the buddhas of the three times; fourth, to teach the three purifications; fifth, to teach the three inclusions; sixth, to teach the three kinds of Dharma-wheels; seventh, to sever doubt; eighth, to teach the Middle Way; ninth, to augment the samādhi of recollecting the Buddha; tenth, to truly discriminate the two gates of sin and merit for sentient beings of the three times. Now I briefly recount the first of his [points]: this sūtra was spoken to teach the bodhisattva path.
