別教觀假名之法森羅萬象，應須分別導利眾生，那得沈空取證？觀此苦果非止一種，即起誓願；無量之苦由無量集，集既無量，治亦無量，滅亦無量，如此誓願緣界內外苦集因果無量四諦而起誓願也。

The Distinct teaching contemplates that the dharmas of provisional names are densely arrayed as manifold phenomena, and one must distinguish them to guide and benefit sentient beings; how could one sink into emptiness and seize realization? Contemplating that these suffering fruits are not of merely one kind, one immediately raises the vows. Measureless sufferings arise from measureless originations; since originations are measureless, the cures are also measureless, and the cessations are also measureless. Such vows arise in connection with the measureless four truths of the causes and effects of suffering and origination within and beyond the realms.
