2.41

又問：若言機是關者，為善關？不善關？若已是善，何須關聖而成善？若非是善，復何得關聖而成非善？凡聖條然，何曾相關？答：善關於大慈，惡關於大悲，故言相關。

Question again: If it is said that capacity is a connection, is it a connection to good, or a connection to evil? If it is already good, why is there a need to connect with the sage to become good? If it is not good, how can it again connect with the sage to become non-good? Ordinary beings and sages are distinctly separate; how could they ever be connected? Answer: Goodness is connected to great benevolence, and evil is connected to great compassion; therefore, it is said that they are connected.
