Second, from "Second, explaining..." downward, regarding that which is internal to the principle, which has two parts: first, showing the characteristics, which has two parts: first, explaining being internal to the principle. Among the above four kinds of object and wisdom, whichever one uses, knowing that its original purpose is to eliminate view and arrogance, one then applies diligence to investigate the object to form wisdom. Being able to break through delusion is called "exhausting the old"; not attaching to wisdom is called "not creating the new." One then attains a semblance of understanding and generates true realization. In the phrase "Like a blind person..." and so forth, the "Tathāgata Nature Chapter" of the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra says: "Like a hundred blind persons who, to cure their eyes, went to a skilled physician. At that time, the skilled physician used a golden probe to remove the film over their eyes, showed them one finger, and asked: 'Do you see?' The blind persons answered: 'I still do not see.' He showed them two fingers and three fingers, and then they said: 'I see a little.'" What that sūtra illustrates is only calling it "seeing a little" when the three truths are fully shown. The present text merely uses it as an analogy for removing the film of views and thoughts and showing the finger of the true truth. Although it is not the Buddha-nature, provisionally speaking in terms of seeing emptiness, it can be called "internal to the principle." Second, from "Although seeing..." downward, censuring deliberate effort. Although this object and wisdom extinguish delusion and realize the true, they are not merely object and merely wisdom, and conceivability has not ceased; hence this is not what is currently discussed. Second, from "Now clarifying..." downward, concluding the error.
