二、約事證，《應驗傳》云：「外國百餘人從師子國汎海向扶南，忽遇惡風，墮鬼國，便欲盡食。一舶眾人怖稱觀音，中有一小乘沙門不信觀音，不肯稱名，鬼索此沙門，沙門狼狽學稱，亦得免脫。」

Second, according to phenomenal verification, the Yingyan zhuan states: 'More than a hundred foreigners sailed from the Lion Country (Śrī Laṅkā) toward Funan, when suddenly they encountered an evil wind and drifted to a demon country, where [the demons] wished to devour them all. The crowds on the ship in fear invoked Avalokiteśvara. Among them was a Hīnayāna śramaṇa who did not believe in Avalokiteśvara and refused to invoke the name. The demons demanded this śramaṇa; in frantic disarray, the śramaṇa imitated them and invoked the name, and he too was able to escape.'
