The sūtra states: The Buddha said: 'No. For what reason? It is like a lost son holding gold coins in his hand without knowing he has them, who wanders in the ten directions for fifty years, destitute, impoverished, and suffering hardship, devoted solely to seeking [alms] to sustain his body, yet never finding sufficiency. His father, seeing that his son is in such circumstances, says to the son: "You are holding gold coins; why do you not take and use them? Whatever you desire will be fully supplied." The son, having come to his senses and obtained the gold coins, is filled with great joy in his heart, thinking that he has obtained coins. His father says to him: "Lost son! Do not rejoice. The gold coins you obtained are your original possessions. You have not attained anything; how can you be joyful?"'
