The sūtra states: Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva said, 'Inconceivable, an inconceivable accumulation! The seven and five do not arise, the eight and six are quiescently ceased, and the nine characteristics are empty and nonexistent; existence is empty and without existence, and nonexistence is empty and without existence. As the Venerable One has said, dharmas and meanings are all empty; entering emptiness without practice, one does not lose the various karmas; devoid of self and what belongs to self, the subject and object of personality view and internal and external fetters are all utterly tranquil, and therefore vows are also stilled. Such contemplation of principle, wisdom, samādhi, and thusness—the Venerable One constantly teaches that it is truly like the empty dharma: it is indeed good medicine!'
