3.34

經曰　舍利弗言：「云何從其本處？」佛言：「本來無本、處於無處，空際入實，發菩提而滿成聖道。何以故？善男子？如手執彼空，不得非不得。」

The sūtra says: Śāriputra said: "What is meant by 'from their original source'?" The Buddha said: "Originally without an origin, abiding in no place, entering reality from the limit of emptiness, one arouses bodhi and completely accomplishes the noble path. Why is this? O good son! It is like grasping empty space with one's hand: one does not obtain it, yet one does not fail to obtain it."
