3.70

經曰　佛言：「長者！譬如江河淮海，大小異故、深淺殊故、名文別故，水在江中名為江水、水在淮中名為淮水、水在河中名為河水，俱在海中唯名海水。法亦如是，俱在真如，唯名佛道。」

The sūtra says: The Buddha said, “Elder! It is like the Jiang, the He, the Huai, and the ocean: because their sizes differ, their depths are distinct, and their names and texts are different, water in the Jiang is called ‘Jiang water’, water in the Huai is called ‘Huai water’, and water in the He is called ‘He water’; but when they are all in the ocean, it is only called ‘ocean water’. The Dharma is also like this: when all are in thusness, it is only called the ‘Buddha-path’.”
