The sūtra states: 'Whatever consciousness that can cognize also is like this. Why? The eye and eye-contact are entirely empty and tranquil, and consciousness is also empty and tranquil, having neither the characteristic of movement nor of non-movement; internally there are no three feelings, and the three feelings are tranquil and ceased. The ear, nose, tongue, and body, the mind, mentation, and mental consciousness, as well as manas and the ālayavijñāna, are also like this: they all do not give rise to a mind of tranquility and cessation or a mind of unarisenness.'
