序文分二：初明證信、二「天王設供等」已下明其發起序。證信序文有二義：初二句四字，局此證信；二「一時」下義有通。此約一義耳。又亦可二句義通一部而文局。初「一時」已下，文通而義局也。約此義即有六句：一如是、二我聞、三一時、四佛、五住處、六同聞眾。

The introductory text is divided into two: first, explaining the authentication of faith; second, from 'the heavenly kings arranged offerings, etc.' onward, explaining its initiation preface. The text of the authentication of faith has two meanings: the first two phrases of four characters are specific to this authentication of faith; second, from 'At one time' downward, the meaning is pervasive. This is in terms of one meaning. Alternatively, the meaning of the two phrases may be pervasive throughout the entire text while the wording is specific; and from the initial 'At one time' downward, the wording is pervasive while the meaning is specific. In terms of this meaning, there are six phrases: first, 'Thus'; second, 'have I heard'; third, 'at one time'; fourth, 'the Buddha'; fifth, 'abode'; sixth, 'the assembly hearing together'.
