5.23

此初即歡喜行菩薩，比丘名善現，入隨順菩薩證明法門。有三：初明勸教往詣、次「時善財」下依教趣入、三「答言」下正入法界。初文有三：示處、人名、教問等可知。二依教進入有七：初辭進；次念前法，念法中有十三句；三進入；四「於城墎」下依教尋求簡擇；五見勝相；六往詣親近禮敬；七「白言」下請問發心。三正入法界中有二：初明自分法門、二「金剛菩薩」下仰推勝分。初文有三：初辨法門體、二「不離此」下明法門作用、三「我唯知此」下結名。初文有二：初得法因緣、二「彼諸佛所」下辨所成體。仰推有二：初別辨、二總結。

Here the first is the Bodhisattva of the Practice of Joy, a monk named Sudarśana, who enters the dharma-gate of Conforming to Bodhisattvas' Attestation. There are three [parts]: first, explaining exhorting and instructing to go; next, from “Then Sudhana” below, proceeding to enter according to instructions; third, from “replied, saying” below, correctly entering the dharmadhātu. The first text has three [points]: showing the place, the person's name, instructing to inquire, etc., which can be understood. In the second, advancing into [it] according to instructions, there are seven [points]: first, taking leave and advancing; next, recollecting the previous teaching, in which recollecting the teaching has thirteen phrases; third, advancing into [it]; fourth, from “in the city walls” below, seeking out and selecting according to instructions; fifth, seeing the superior characteristics; sixth, going to draw near and pay homage; seventh, from “addressed [him], saying” below, inquiring about the arousal of the mind. In the third, correctly entering the dharmadhātu, there are two [parts]: first, explaining the dharma-gate of his own division; second, from “Vajra Bodhisattva” below, respectfully deferring to the superior division. The first text has three [parts]: first, discerning the essence of the dharma-gate; second, from “not leaving this” below, explaining the functioning of the dharma-gate; third, from “I only know this” below, concluding with the name. The first text has two [parts]: first, the causes and conditions of attaining the Dharma; second, from “in the presence of those Buddhas” below, discerning the accomplished essence. In respectfully deferring, there are two [parts]: first, specific distinction; second, general conclusion.
