The twenty-third is the bodhisattva of the dedication equal to all buddhas. The elder is named Anupamaśrī ('Unsurpassed Excellence'), who has entered the dharma-gate of the adornment of the pure practice of bodhisattvas that reaches all destinies. First is the explanation of exhortation and instruction; second, from 'Then Sudhana' on down, entering according to the teaching; third, from 'The elder told' on down, the actual entry. In the first, the instruction, there are three [parts], as before. In the second, the entering, there are eight: first, taking leave; second, mindfully cultivating to increase and broaden; third, gradually arriving at the place; fourth, from 'Completely' on down, searching; fifth, from 'East of the city' on down, seeing the exquisite and wondrous marks; sixth, from 'Then that elder' on down, the marks of his retinue; seventh, from 'At that time Sudhana' on down, paying homage; eighth, from 'He addressed' on down, debasing oneself to ask questions. In the third, the actual entry, there are three: first, praising the aspiration; second, from 'I have accomplished reaching all' on down, explaining the dharma of his own portion; third, from 'All the great [bodhisattvas]' on down, deferring with respect to the superior portions. His own portion has three: first, generally presenting the characteristics of the essence of the dharma; second, from 'What kind' on down, broadly distinguishing the characteristics of its meaning and function; third, from 'I only [know]' on down, concluding what is known in his own portion. In the second, the broad distinction, there are two: first, questioning, and next, answering. This text has two: first, in terms of this realm; second, analogously to other lands, which has two [parts] that may be known. In the first text there are two: first, the physical karma reaching the destinies; second, from 'teaching the Dharma therein' on down, the verbal karma teaching the Dharma. Within these two texts, knowing dharmas, compounding medicines, and the realm of the holy self-realization of the buddhas are the mental karma. In deferring with respect: first, superiority of physical karma; second, from 'Attaining' on down, superiority of verbal karma; third, from 'Distinguishing' on down, superiority of mental karma; fourth, from 'How could I' on down, general conclusion.
